Issue/Question
I received an email saying I have to change my Apple ID.
Environment
- Apple ID
- Macomb.edu email address
Details
If you registered an Apple ID at any point in the past using your macomb.edu email address you have recently received a notification email indicating that you need to change your username for that Apple ID. This is legitimate and not a phishing attempt - We are in the process of changing how Apple IDs work with our macomb.edu domain.
If you no longer use that Apple ID and do not have any Apple App Store content that you wish to retain then feel free to ignore that notification from Apple and any further notifications on the subject. In 60 days that Apple ID will automatically be assigned a new username.
If you do need to retain that Apple ID for any reason simply follow the instructions that were sent to you as part of the notification from Apple and choose a new email address (that does not end with @macomb.edu) to use as the username for that Apple ID. As part of the process, you will need to enter your password for that Apple ID. If you do not remember it please visit https://iforgot.apple.com/ for assistance in resetting that password.
Note: The Macomb Service Desk cannot help reset Apple ID passwords.
