Issue/Question
How do I map to a network print device to my Macomb Community College issued computer using Universal Printing?
Environment
- Macomb Community College Issued Computers
- Macomb Community College Network
Additional Details
Note: Using Employee-Papercut is the College's preferred method for printing. Please use the instructions below ONLY if you are unable to print to a Multi-Function Device (MFD) through the Papercut print queue.
Please note that standalone printers are being gradually decommissioned as part of the College's print management strategy and will become increasingly limited across campus. Whenever possible, use Papercut-enabled MFDs for printing services.
Resolution
To map a network print device to a Macomb Community College computer, we first need to access the 'Printers and Scanners' system settings. There are two methods of doing this.
Method 1: Windows Search Bar
- Left-click the Windows search bar on the taskbar.

- In the Windows search bar, enter Printers and Scanners. From the list of results, either left-click or press the enter key on the keyboard to select the first result underneath the 'Best Match' heading that also has a subheading of 'System settings'.

Method 2: Windows Start Menu
- Alternetively, right-click the
icon on the taskbar.
- From the list of options, left-click on the 'Settings' button.

- In the Settings window that appears, left-click the 'Bluetooth & devices' button.

- In the Bluetooth & devices setting window, left-click the 'Printers & scanners' button.

- In the Printers and Scanners window that appears, left-click the 'Add device' button.

- After clicking the Add device button, left-click the drop-down box beneath the Add device button.

- From the list of options that appear, left-click the 'Work or school' option.

- Once the Work or School option is selected, available print devices will automatically be listed, in which the list can be searched for a print device by left-clicking inside the 'Keywords' box beneath the Work or school drop-down box and entering the print device's network name.

- Once the desired print device is located, left-click the Add device button to the right of the result to add it as an available print option.

- Alternatively, to search a specific location for available print devices to map to, left-click the 'Select a search location' button to the left of the Keywords box.

- In the 'Choose your Universal Print location' box that appears, left-click the desired location to select it, then left-click the 'OK' button to search for available print devices in that location.

- Once the desired print device is located, left-click the Add device button to the right of the result to add it as an available print option.

- After the the desired print devices have been mapped to, they may now be selected as an option to print to when initiating a print job.
