How do I Self-Authorize an Application?

Issue/Question

I received the following message "An application has been blocked to protect your device"

Who does this affect?

  • Faculty
  • CIT Staff

Resolution

This message is normal and part of our information security efforts at the College.  If you are faculty or CIT staff and receive this message you will be able to self-authorize an application which will allow you to run the application.

  • You have the option to select either remember the choice for a single session or permanently.  If you choose a single session then you will be prompted again the next time you run the application.  If you choose to remember it permanently, it won't prompt you until there is an update to the application control policy.
  • Then click Allow.
