How to Login to MacOs Sonoma

Issue/Question

How do I login to MacOS Sonoma?

Environment

  • MacOS
  • Computer Lab

Resolution

On computers without the Guest user:

  • Most of the student computer lab computers are set up without a guest user. On computers where the guest user is not enabled the login window will be extremely similar to what you’ve seen before:

  • Use your Macomb username (your email address minus the @macomb.edu) and password to login here. In some cases, some students may need to use their student ID and Macomb password to log in.

On computers with the Guest user:

  • The Guest user has been enabled on all the Instructor Stations / Mediated desks, as well as in certain computer labs where this feature has been specifically requested. (The Guest user is a limited user account that automatically erases itself on logout – any files created should be saved to OneDrive or an external drive before you sign out.)
    • On computers where the Guest account is enabled you will now see just the Guest Account on the login screen – as shown here:

  • In order to log in with your user account you will need to access the “Other…” login option. You can do this by moving the mouse over the guest account icon, or by pressing the Escape key. You should then see a screen like this:

  • Click on the “Other…” button, and you will be taken to a screen where you can enter a username and password – as shown here:

  • Use your Macomb username (your email address minus the @macomb.edu) and password to login here. In some cases, some students may need to use their student ID and Macomb password to log in
