How to View Networked Printers in Windows 10

Issue/Question

I want to view networked printers in Windows 10

Environment

  • MCC Owned Computers
  • Windows 10

Resolution

In the recent versions of Windows (8.1, 10) the button used to view networked printers on the print server is missing. Accessing this list is helpful when wanting to check that status of a printer and viewing what is currently in the print queue.

  1. Open your Start Menu and type "printmanagement.msc" into the search bar at the bottom and click Enter

  1. In the Print Management window that appears, in the left pane locate and right click on "Print Servers", then click "Add/Remove Servers..."

  1. In the new window labeled "Configure Print Management" there will be a box titled "Add Servers:" Type \\print into the box and click the "Add to List" button to the right. It should populate in the "Print Servers" box found below it. When shown, click "Apply" then "OK".

  1. In the main window, in the left pane, drill down the "Print Servers" menu (by clicking the arrow to the left), and then the "Print" menu as well.

  1. Click "Printers" and the list of networked printers will show up in the middle pane.
