How Do I Request Access To An Application That Was Blocked?

How do I request access to an application that was blocked by CIT application control?

  • Affects ALL Staff (with exception to Faculty)

You may receive the following prompt when trying to run/install/access an application that hasn't been approved by the College.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

You have two options:

  1. If you didn't mean to run the application or don't have a need to run in, you can click OK.
  2. If you did intend on running the application, you can click on the hyperlink, Click here to request access to this application.

After clicking the hyperlink above, you will be directed to the following web page:

You will need to supply the information above including a telephone number so that you may be reached once an application has been approved for use. In the example above, a staff member was trying to use the popular music application, Spotify, which is blocked by default. 

  • User name - Your network user name.  This is pre-populated.
  • File name - The file name of the application. This is pre-populated.
  • Manufacturer - The manufacturer of the application. This is pre-populated.
  • Request Type - You will have option to select Allow, Allow and Elevate, or Allow and Elevate (excluding child processes). Select Allow for most cases, unless the application requires administrator rights to run.
  • Request Method - You can select Email or Telephone. If you select telephone you will receive the additional prompt shown below and will be required to select how long you wish to have access to the app.You will want to call the Service Desk at the telephone number provided.  You will be required to supply the Request Code along with additional information provided on the screen prompt.  The Service Desk agent will supply you in return with a Response Code that will enter and the click on Confirm Code.

 Note: Please select Telephone if you need immediate assistance so you can speak to a Service Desk technician and then contact the Service Desk via 586-445-7156.

  • Expires - When selecting Telephone as a Request Method, you will be required to include how long you require access to the application.  You can select from the following lengths of time:
    • 1 hour
    • 4 hours
    • 1 day
    • 2 days
    • 1 week
    • 2 weeks
    • 1 month
    • Indefinitely
  • Telephone number - Please provide a phone number where you can be reached.

If you selected email as the request method you will be notified once a decision has been made on an application access request.  Telephone requests will be handled immediately by the Service Desk agent while you are on the phone with them.

Please note, applications requests will be approved after being reviewed on a case-by-case scenario.  Not all requests will be approved.
