How do I register the phone text message multi-factor authentication (MFA) method?

Details

 Note: These instructions apply to most users, though your experience may vary slightly. If you need assistance with MFA or SSPR registration, please reach out to the Service Desk.

  • Enter your password, then click Sign in.
  • If you are prompted to stay signed in, click No.

  • On the Security Info page, click Add method.

  • Ensure the Phone method is selected, then click Add.

  • Ensure Text me a code is selected, and then enter your phone number.
  • Click Next. 

 

  • You will receive a text message on your phone. 
  • Enter the code displayed in the text message, click Next. 

  • Your phone is now registered. Click Done. 

  • Confirm your default sign-in method is set to Phone – text.  If it is incorrect, click Change to update it.  

If you have previously added any other MFA or SSPR methods, they will be displayed here as well.

  • Select Phone – text from the drop-down. 
  • Click Confirm. 

 Phone – text should now be set as the default sign-in method.
