Change a Network Account Password on a Macomb Community College Issued Device Via Windows While Working Remotely

How do I change my network account password on a Macomb Community College issued computer within Windows while working remotely?

Additional Details

 Note: You must be logged in to the computer and connected to the GlobalProtect VPN for this process to work. Additionally, after you change your password, you must remain logged in to the VPN without an interrupted internet connection for 20 minutes for the device to synchronize your new password.

Resolution

  • Login to your Macomb Community College issued device.
  • Once logged in, open the GlobalProtect VPN and login.
  • After signing in to GlobalProtect, simultaneously press the CTRL + ALT + DELETE keys on the keyboard
  • From the menu that appears, click the Change Password option.
  • Next, you will be presented with three text boxes: Old password, Create new password, Confirm new password.
    • In the Old password field, enter your current Macomb Community College account password.
    • In the Create new password and Confirm new password fields, enter your new password for your Macomb Communicty College account.
      • Note: The new password must meet the following criteria:
        • Must not resemble any of your previous passwords.
        • Avoid including easily guessable information such as your name, date of birth, etc.
        • Must comprise at least one number or special character.
        • Must include at least one lowercase letter.
        • Must contain at least one uppercase letter.
        • Minimum of 12 characters in length.
  • Once all of the fields have the proper information entered, click the arrow to the right of the Confirm Password field or press the Enter key on the keyboard to proceed with changing the password.

  • Once the password has changed, click the OK button to complete the password change process.
