How to Map a Department Share Drive

Issue/Question

  • I want to learn how to map a department share drive

Environment

  • MCC owned computer
  • Windows

Resolution

  • Click on the Windows logo in the lower-left corner of the screen to open the start menu.
  • Type This PC into the search box.
  • Click on the This PC icon.

  • Right-click in the white space.
  • Select Add a network location from the drop-down menu.

  • Click Next.

  • Click Choose a custom network location then click Next.

  • In the Internet or network address field type \\mcc.local\departments.
  • Click Browse.

  • In the menu that pops up, click on departments.
  • Click on the drive that you want to map to under departments.
  • Click Ok.

  • With the full path for the drive now entered, click Next.

  • Type in a name for the new network drive.

  • Click Next.

  • Click Finish.

  • The new network drive will be added as a folder under Network Locations.

  • You are now able to access the network drive through the link you just created
