How do I activate my student account?

Basic password complexity rules:
- Password cannot contain the user name and must contain characters from three of the four following categories:
- Passwords expire after 365 days
Resolution
You will need access to both the email inbox, and phone number that you submitted on your Macomb registration form to complete this process
If you do not have access to either of these, please contact Student Tech Support and let them know that you do not have access to one or both of the required contact methods.
Receiving your activation email
- When your My Macomb account is ready for use, you will receive an email from studenttechsupport@macomb.edu with the subject **Welcome to Macomb Community College**. Below is an example of the email you will receive in you're personal email inbox.
- Click the Reset Your Password link in the email or visit https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com directly.

Note: If you cannot locate this email, please also check your spam and trash folders.
- Enter your Macomb Email Address provided in your Macomb Community College welcome email and complete the verification process. This is not case-sensitive.

Note: If you receive an error stating "We're sorry. You can't reset your own password because you haven't registered for password reset." Please contact the Student Tech Support and include this error information.

Verify ownership of your phone number
- First, select whether you would like to receive a phone call, or a text message.
- If you select Text my mobile phone, a verification code will be sent to the phone number. Enter this code and click next.
- If you select Call my mobile phone, answer the call as soon as you receive it and follow the prompt from the automated system.
Verify ownership of your email address
- Verify ownership of your email address by entering the personal email address associated with your Macomb account. This will be the same email address that your Macomb welcome email was sent to. A verification code will be sent to the inbox.
- Enter this code and click next.
Set a Password
- Enter a new password for the account, then enter it again exactly as typed above in the confirmation box.
Note: Basic password complexity rules:
- Password must be 12 characters long.
- Password cannot contain the user name and must contain characters from three of the four following categories:
- Passwords expire after 365 days

Enroll in Additional Verification Options
- In addition to a password, students will occasionally be prompted to further verify their identity by using one of several additional verification options.
- These methods may also be used to reset a forgotten password.

Signing In
- Some Macomb Community College online resources may redirect you to a different Sign in page.
- You may log in on these pages with your Macomb Email Address and new Password.
