Whether you’re a new hire or a seasoned staff member, this knowledge base article is here to help you navigate some of the most common questions and issues you might encounter. For new hires, we’ve also outlined a few essential steps to ensure your first day goes smoothly.

Note: If you don’t have a desk phone, login credentials, or a PC, please check with your hiring manager to see if a service request has been submitted to the Service Desk. If a request has already been made or if you are missing any of these items, contact the Service Desk for assistance by dialing *1 from any on-campus telephone.

Logging In: Accessing Your Device and My Macomb Account
- To log in to your device, use your full Macomb Community College email address for the username and the password you created for your account.
- To log in to your My Macomb account, navigate to the My Macomb website.
- Log in using your Macomb email address (e.g., SmithJ123@macomb.edu).
- Additional information you should keep and be aware of:
- Employee ID: Are seven digits long (e.g., 1234567).
- Network Log in: Beginning portion of Macomb Community College email address (e.g., SmithJ123).

Accessing Your Macomb Community College Email:
There are several ways to access your Macomb Community College email address:
Note: Your email login is the same as your My Macomb login.
- My Macomb Website: Visit the My Macomb website and click on the email icon.
- Outlook Desktop Application: Use the Outlook desktop application, which is automatically installed on your device.
- Microsoft Outlook Website: Go directly to the Microsoft Outlook's website.
This email address will be used for all official communications from Macomb Community College.
Desk Phone Usage Guide:
- Dialing Out: Dial 9 to get an outside line, or 9 followed by 1 for long-distance calls.
- Internal Calls: Dial the last 4 digits of the phone number to reach any internal extension. For example, if the directory shows 445-7000, just dial 7000.
- Emergency Calls: Dial 911 on any desk phone to reach Campus Police. Note that dialing 911 on your cell phone will connect you to the local police department, not Campus Police.
- Non-Emergency Calls to College Police:
- Center Campus: Dial #2123
- South Campus: Dial #7135
- Desk Phone and Voicemail Setup: For assistance with setting up your desk phone and voicemail, including having voicemails delivered to your email contact the Service Desk.
- Contact the Service Desk: 586-445-7156 or dial *1 on your desk phone.

Connecting to Wireless Networks: A Quick Guide
To connect to a wireless network, simply go to the WiFi settings on your phone and select the appropriate network. There are three networks to choose from:

mGuest
- “Open” (unauthenticated) access for staff, students, and visitors.
- Optimized for non-academic use with appropriate speeds and internet resource availability.
- Suitable for most needs, even for staff.

MyMacomb
- Authenticated access for students, faculty, and staff with personally owned devices.
- Requires login with your Macomb network (MyMacomb portal) credentials.
- Provides internet and Macomb resource access identical to a wired on-campus connection.
- Offers open access to full academic content for faculty and students.

mSecure
- Automatically connects Macomb-issued laptops or tablets to the mSecure network.
- Grants access to most of Macomb’s internal systems.
